Lightroom Classic CC 8.1 keep crashing my computer

Hi all,

Lightroom Classic CC 8.1 keep crashing my computer after the application is open for about 5-10 minutes. It does not seem to be linked to any specific functionality, at least that I am aware of. It seems to be quite random. The application will first freeze and say "not responding..." and then my computer crashes and reboots itself.

I do not think this is due to any specific versions, as I have updated the software many times and the issue still persist.

I also tried restoring the Lightroom preferences to the original but that did not work.

By the way, I have a Toshiba Satellite with a CORE i7 processor with a Windows 10 operating system.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Austin

Yes, sounds like hardware or drivers or software other than LR issues.

Here is one link on looking at Windows 10 events to hunt down the issue

By the way, just in case, please share with us your System Information as available in Lightroom.

In Lightroom, click on Help, then System Information, then a Copy. Paste that in a reply.

Please try switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Computer crashing is almost always a hardware malfunction somewhere or an out-of-date/bad/corrupted driver. You need to run diagnostics on your motherboard, CPU, memory, etc. You need to check your cooling system to make sure it is working properly. You need to update your drivers to be sure that they are all current and not corrupted.
