Lightroom Classic CC keeps crashing

I am running Lightroom Classic CC 7.0.1 with Camera Raw 10.0

My PC runs on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 1703 version 15063.726

It has an Intel i7-6700 CPU and 32GB RAM. It has a 256GB SSD and a 4TB disk (after RAID1 is applied to two 4TB disks).

I have a 4K monitor.

I have a Radeon RX 470 graphics card, software version 17.11.2 (latest).

I have uninstalled Lightroom Classic CC, then re-installed it.

I have the Edit, Preferences, tab Performance option Use Graphics Processor un-ticked.

I don't have any third party plug-ins, and the default Adobe plug-ins are all disabled.

I do have Google's (DxO's) Nik Collection executables listed as 3rd-party editing software, in Edit, Preferences, tab External Editing. I don't use these yet.

I almost always open my Catalogs with Integrity Checking.

If I get a chance to close Lightroom myself, I do so with Backup and Integrity Checking.

Lightroom crashes so often that it has become un-usable. I loyally fill in Crash reports, but suspect that no-one is interested. Crashes happen most often in Develop, but at random activities. It may take seconds after launching Lightroom, or minutes, in rare occasions half an hour before a crash happens. I don't get error messages (or not to my knowledge), only Crash Report windows.

What can I undertake to improve on my situation? All suggestions are welcome.

I would start by investigating your hardware. Sound like you may have a RAM problem or a heat, overheating, issue.

If that were the case, I would have expected other resource-hungry software to show similar issues, e.g. Photoshop, or my backup software or my anti-virus software.

Anyway, I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, mdsched.exe, which did not report any problems. I ran Lightroom and when it crashed, I immediately re-booted, entered the Boot menu, checked temperatures: CPU 40 degrees Celsius and motherboard 31 degrees Celsius. No issues there either.

I can only relate my experiences to offer assistance.

Re the "Crash Reports", if my memory recalls, the message is a Windows error message and sending reports to Microsoft never elicits a reply or a fix. (the report does not go to Adobe)

When my laptop ran the drivers for nVidia graphics as installed by Windows updates, I would frequently get crashes especially when using brush adjustments in develop module.

I un-installed the nVidia drivers and downloaded the drivers from the nVidia site- my crashes stopped.

I noted you update always but have you tried a graphics driver un-install and re-install?

    System crashes are a PIA.

The Crash Report is an Adobe feature (AdobeCrashReporter.dtd), carrying the Adobe logo. They ask you to supply background information about what you were doing in Lightroom Classic CC just before the crash, which I always provide.

For the last week or so I have been running without a graphics card. I also uninstalled its driver. It makes no difference to the crashes. I won't bother installing the graphics card again, as it didn't seem to make that much of a difference in performance anyway. My Intel i7 seems capable enough.

I now found this thread with many similar issues, which means my case isn't an isolated one:

New LR Classic CC keeps crashing

Thanks for your continued support, but I suggest we don't waste further effort on this unresolved issue. For now I'll stick with Adobe Bridge.
