Question

Lightroom Classic changes capture date during import

I just tried to upload a folder of photos that were sorted in capture date.  I had LrC set to import in capture date priority.  When they uploaded, the dates were all wacky.  Some were from 1904, others were from a few months earlier, others were from just weeks off.  NO logic.  I double checked my original files- they were all correct.  What happened and how do I get them to import with the original date.  These photos were from my iPhone.  The download from my iPhone to my laptop was just fine.

Thanks

I have also experienced this problem from time to time. I searched this forum for earlier posts on this subject and found a solution here:

Well I don't  think that is my problem.  I loaded the photos to a file on my laptop and they are all correct and in perfect order.  It is only when I try to put them in LrC that they go wonky.  It sounds like from the link you sent me this is a problem for many people.  I don't see why the origin of the photos should matter, they are already downloaded and correct.  There is some type of file corruption due to perhaps file type from an iPhone.

Select one of the photos that has a wonky capture date showing in LR and attach it to your reply here, and we can put it under the microscope to see what might be going wrong.   If its a .heic file and not a .jpg, then upload it to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar and post the sharing link here.
