Lightroom Classic crash problems

I am having crash Problems with my Aorus Gaming Computer.    LR V13.3 after sitting idle for a few minutes crashes.

Graphics Card is and NVIDIA 3080 (Photo/Video install).

I added all the programs to use the NVIDIA GPU via windows and the NVIDIA menu

Lightroom hangs regularly and sends in a crash report.

Photoshop changes itself back to the intergrated Graphics Card when it feels like lol.

Help anyone.  TIA

Sounds like the GPU is having issues., Some items to inspect

  • Is the GPU firmly inserted into the expansion slot
  • Is the 12-pin power connector loose
  • Is the Monitor cable loose, either end
  • Do you have dust bunnies around the GPU
  • Do you have dust bunnies around the CPU
  • Dust in general, inlets/outlets of case and power supply
  • Any indication that the computer is overheating

also, does your Windows Event Viewer provide any clues

  • Any error events, critical, or error
  • In Windows Log, System, anything nasty
  • the above probably best inspected immediately following a GPU issue, like that PS changing to the integrated controller.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.

Building on dj_paige's reply, you can download the latest Studio driver from here:

https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/226796/en-us/

"Photoshop changes itself back to the intergrated Graphics Card when it feels like lol."

Adobe recommends disabling a second GPU -- step 5 of solution 4:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html#solution-4

If these two things don't help, do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

Are you performing any particular tasks when this happens? Or does it seem to be random?

Have you made sure you have the latest NVidia Studio driver (not the game driver)?
