Question

lightroom classic crashes immediately going into masking (Sequoia Beta)

hi, I have been experiencing this weird bug in my Lightroom classic where it crashes when I click for masks. I use a Mac studio with 64 GB of unified memory and an M2 Max chip.

I feel like It is Lightroom issues, not the Mac, is there anyone else facing the same issue?

Please try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue.

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

Another step is to try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

Unfortunately you don't have gave us any informations about your system.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Do you get an error message? If yes please post it here word-by-word. This would be helpful to identify the issue.

so MACOS Sequoia Preview

Not yet supported in LrC. So no surprise things fail.

is there anyone else facing the same issue?

Yes.

Some members that have done that have had a little success followed by failures, Some have had no success. Their are several posts in this community on that.

You may need to wait for a LrC upgrade (perhaps a update) or revert your MACOS.

Running a Preview OS, much less a Beta OS on a working computer (as opposed to a test computer) is often a very bad idea.
