Question

Lightroom Classic doesn't go past splash screen on M1 iMac running macOS 11.5.1

I've downloaded creative cloud and installed. I then installed Lightroom Classic through the Creative Cloud. Whenever I try to launch Lightroom Classic it immediately closes shortly after the splash screen appears.

I spent two hours with Adobe tech support who took remote control and tried random things... NONE of which solved the issue. I'm still left WITHOUT a functioning software even though I've payed for it.

I am running a brand new Apple iMac M1 computer with Big Sur 11.5.1 .

I have already tried the recommended solution of...
1. Signing out and signing back into Creative Cloud
2. Changing the SLCache and SLStore folders to the "SLCacheold" and "SLStoreold"
3. I have uninstalled and re-installed both Creative Clould and Lightroom Classic THREE TIMES NOW

This has taken OVER four hours of my time now. I'm very frustrated.

On your MAC, launch Finder, navigate the the folder your catalog is in, take a screenshot, and please post into a reply.

Hi. I had exact same problem after getting a new mac, but I simply reinstal lightroom and it works perfectly. Sooo... I don't know. Maybe it was a patch problem or any other one with the version up to date or so. Anyway. Try reinstalling. Good luck!

*Michael Chance As a workaround (not a permanent solution, so don’t freak), do your LR Classic work in the new account, export your deliverables to the Shared folder (it’s in the Users folder), then log back to your account and there they are available to be sent. After it’s fixed, you’ll import that whole new catalog into your main catalog (from the Shared folder).

Real solution: search for a Mac IT guy near you and pay them to work on your problem.

Were you sending those crash reports to Adobe?

Thanks,

UPDATE! I tried to re-launch after doing what you said and it still did NOT work.

HOWEVER, I did what this guy (Michael J. Hoffman) suggested on the "adobe community" page and created a "new user" on my Mac. Well, lightroom classic starts up and runs on the "new user" account. What does this mean though??? How do I get it to work on my main user account now? Thanks!

Also, I should mention this is a BRAND NEW Apple iMac M1. Hasn't even been used yet really, just in the process of loading necessary software today.

Ok, I've done what you said. Now what? Try to run Lightroom Classic again? Thanks!
