Lightroom Classic is crashing on MacOS Ventura

Community Beginner ,
Dec 12, 2022 Dec 12, 2022

I cannot get my Lightroom Classic to run on my Mac Studio using MacOS Ventura 13.0.1. I've uninstalled then reinstalled. I've read forums here that suggest this is a bug and that the only workaround is to downgrade to the former OS. I'm willing to do that. But I'm also wondering if there may be another fix. I can't even get it to load. And yes, I got this computer primarily to run Adobe quickly. There are no memory problems. I still can run the other apps, but I rely on Classic. I apprecaite any help at all. Thank you in advance.

Hi. It's the latest version. I've downloaded it and reinstalled. Also sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. Thanks

@jkornblum

that's ok about moving your message.  (but you should answer @GoldingD question by preferrably showing a screenshot of the cc desktop app showing your installed lrc version).

Please install 12.1, released last night, and advise if you are still experiencing the crash.

Thanks!

Yes. I just updated to lightroom 12.1 and it is STILL not launching. I get the splash screen then nothing. I do pay a lot for Adobe. I really would like to get this up and running. If it's the OS, fine. all my other lightroom products work fine. It's just this one.

I would do that if I could open Lightroom to reset them. Thanks though.

I've now uninstalled all adobe apps (again). Wondering if there's a way to also delete any lingering preference files?

Did you use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to uninstall the Creative Cloud apps?

The article I linked to gives the location of the preferences file.

Make sure you've granted LR Full Disk Access (not Files And Folders) permission:

Hi. I've

  1. updated both my computer and lightroom.
  2. unstalled and reinstalled lightroom
  3. uninstalled and reinstalled the entire adobe suite
  4. reinstalled mac OS ventura 13.1
  5. given adobe complete access to my hard drive
  6. Spent more than an hour with Apple tech support

NOTHING WORKED. It still does not work. Interestingly enough, it works on my laptop. Same system. I created a partition on my hard drive and installed the older OS. It does work. but then I would have to completely reinstall pretty much everything from scratch. I'm at a loss. I can use my other computer for classic and this one for the web-based client. But I really want to use Lightroom Classic on this computer.

I do pay for Adobe, like everyone else. I'd think there's gotta be a way to reach someone to fix this.

See here for how to reset LR preferences manually:

https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Did you use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to completely wipe all traces of Creative Cloud products:

Rarely turds get left around that survive a normal uninstall/reinstall.
