Lightroom Classic Library Grid View

Not sure if it's a bug or something wrong with my install but on Library module when on Grid View, I used to be able to click on an imported folder from the left and I would be able to see all of the photos in that particular folder.  Now it only shows either all recently imported or all photos in the catalog.  Is there a setting I need change to get the ability to click on a folder in the library folder and have only the photos from that folder appear in the grid view?  I'm running version 12.4.  Thanks.

Please post a full-resolution screenshot (not a phone pic) of the entire LR window, so we can see what you're seeing.

Sounds like neither a bug nor a problem with your installation, but a misunderstanding. At the top of the left panel, below the preview, Lightroom first shows a number of collections, such as 'All Photographs' and 'Previous Import'. It sounds like that is what you clicked on. The next panel is the panel that shows your folders. A screenshot, like @johnrellis suggested, will tell us quickly if that is indeed the explanation. Embed it in your message using this button IMG_2794.jpeg, do not attach it please.

Everything seems in perfect order. In your screenshot, you have 'All Photographs' selected, so that is why Lightroom shows all photographs in the grid.

I agree.  However, I used to be able to click on any of the folders in the list and only see the photos in the folder selected.  Now, whenever I click on any of the folders in the list Lightroom Classic does nothing.  It continues to display the full list of 57,273 photos.

As you can see, I sort my photos by year and month in order to make it easier to find my photos.  Is there a setting I can adjust within Lightroom Classic to allow me to see only the photos within the folder that I select please?

Clicking a folder should display the photos within that folder, so there is no setting for this.

Try resetting the preferences.  Go to Lightroom menu > Preferences > General.

Press the Option key, and a button for resetting preferences will appear.

This article explains how to reset preferences and restore the original ones if resetting doesn't help:

https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

There have been some other reports in the last few months about the Folders panel not working correctly. If resetting preferences (and restarting your computer) doesn't help, please try these next steps:

1. Try deleting the Helper.lrdata folder:
a) Do Catalog Settings > General > Show to open Finder / File Explorer on the current catalog folder.
b) Exit LR.
c) In that folder, delete the folder "<catalog> Helper.lrdata".
d) Restart LR, and it will rebuild the folder.

The Helper.lrdata folder caches information about metadata, keywords, folders, collections, and other things to speed the performance of LR and it can sometimes get corrupted. In recent versions, LR has used it more heavily to improve the speed of displaying metadata, and there have been a fair number of bugs with it.

2. Select one of the folders and then provide a full-resolution screenshot of the entire LR window, not just part of it. That could provide additional clues about what's going on.

All, I'm running MacOS Sonoma beta 2.  I searched the forums and discovered LRC is as flaky as can be with Sonoma Beta.  I tried uninstalling LRC and tried installing older versions all the way down to 12.0 but still get same issue and multiple crashes.  So I'm going to assume my issues are related to Sonoma Beta 2.  Good thing I'm no longer an avid user of Lightroom so I can wait until LRC catches up to Sonoma. I can't imagine anyone else out there that relies on this paid membership software to be so unstable on beta versions of OSs.  I hope Adobe will catch up to Sonoma soon.

I just tried another competitor to Lightroom Classic and it works perfectly fine with Sonoma Beta plus it's cheaper per month.  I'm giving Adobe 7 days to update Lightroom Classic to work with Sonoma or I'm cancelling my account.  Can't pay for something I can't use.

Do as you like, but this is absurd. If you run the current version of Lightroom Classic on a beta version of MacOS, then you are asking for trouble. You can't blame Adobe for their software not yet running on beta system software. Also remember that Apple can still make changes to Sonoma, so what runs now may not run anymore next week.
