Lightroom Classic masks not working anymore

Since last week, not sure if this correlates with an update, none of the masking tools, AI or classic, are working with different Lightroom catalogs I have.

Both AI masks as well as e.g. linear gradient are affected.

AI masks crash Lightroom.

E.g. linear gradient selection shows the crosshair mouse pointer to drag the gradient but upon dragging nothing shows. Not the perimeters of the gradient, nor the effect of the gradient.

Check the tool overlay in the lower left corner below the image. Make sure it is not set to 'Never'.

A crash when using AI mask is usually caused by outdated, crappy GPU drivers, so go to the website of your GPU manufacturer and check for driver updates.
