Question

lightroom classic not moving some photos to new folder

Often when I try to move photos to another folder, Lightroom tells me the photo is already there. I have checked to be sure that no other photo has the same name. Today I made a new folder and it told me the three photos I was moving to the empty folder were already there. This is very frustrating.,

Hey there,

We're sorry for the frustrating experience with Lightroom Classic. We need more details to help you.

What version of Lightroom Classic and macOS are you using? Did you move this folder previously to any different location?

To move photos correctly, make sure you are dragging them from the Grid view in the Library module to the desired folder in the Folders panel. If you are trying to move them from Finder instead of within Lightroom, this can cause issues.

You need to find these photos in Lightroom. Follow all of these four steps in order:

1. In the Lightroom Library Module, on the left, under Catalog, click on All Photographs
2. Turn off all filters (Ctrl-L once or twice)
3. Turn off all stacking (Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks)
4. Search for at least one of these photos by file name using the Lightroom Filter Bar

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
