This could be caused by a corrupted catalog. Try this: hold down the Ctrl key while opening Lightroom. In the Select Catalog dialog, it lists your recently used catalogs, or you can open another existing catalog or create a new catalog. Choose to create a new catalog. If that works and Lightroom opens with this new catalog, then your problem is caused by a corrupted existing catalog. There are ways to try to fix that, but let's first see if that is the cause or not.

OK, that is good to hear. Now try this to save your old catalog: Open Lightroom Classic with the new (empty) catalog and choose 'File - Import from Another Catalog'. Choose your old catalog and select "Add new photos to catalog without moving". With a little bit of luck this will work, and will create and exact copy of your old catalog without the corruption in it.

Can you post in a reply a screenshot of the folder your catalog is in (using Windows File Explorer)

No.

Please goto to the folder where your Lightroom catalog is located and look if there's a .lock file.

If you'll find such a file delete it and chack again.

The Lightroom catalog cannot be opened because another application already has it opened - lrcat.lock (adobe.com)

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 5 - Topaz Photo

Hi I've already done it, few times. I also uninstalled application, uninstalled adobe cloud and rapaired adobe cloud, updated softwear, installed older version of Lightroom classic. Nothing works

Check if there is a file ending in lrcat.lock located in same folder as your catalog. If it exist, then remove from folder and retry starting the application.

@Iga38999342fn58 Hi there,

We're sorry for the trouble. Are you experiencing this issue after any specific update of Lightroom Classic? You may try to reset Lightroom Classic preferences back to defaults and see if that helps. Here's how you reset the preferences: https://adobe.ly/3Ap6WBu Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Mohit
