Lightroom Classic Preferences Keep Resetting

Is anyone else having this issue?  Every few days when I open Lightroom, it shows me the welcome screen as if I just opened the app for the first time.  All of my preferences have been reset as well, which is frustrating, because if I don't catch it, i'm no longer working with 16bit uncompressed files at 300dpi.  Why does this keep happening???

    I'm going to make a guess at two possibilities.

    1. Your hard disk is malfunctioning
    2. Something (a script in your operating system?) is erasing your preference file.

    because if I don't catch it, i'm no longer working with 16bit uncompressed files at 300dpi.

    I'm pretty sure this is not correct. Whatever is in your preference file does not affect your image files.

    I'm pretty sure this is not correct. Whatever is in your preference file does not affect your image files.

    I hear what you're saying and, yes, the appalling operating system Windows 10 does so much damage everytime it updates but when it comes to Adobe products, I've only had issues with Lightroom falling victim to OS issues. How come none of the others don't? I use PS and PP and none of these are affected by OS issues.

    I'm having the same issues as the original poster and there's not a lot we can do other than roll back which I'm fast tiring of with each pointless Windows update.

    I'm glad you are hearing what I said, but honestly, I didn't say anything close to this.
