Lightroom Classic Slideshow Export to Video Hangs when Video is Included as Part of the Slideshow

I'm having trouble with Slideshow Export to Video.  The slideshow contains a mix of portrait photos, landscape photos, and videos from different sources (iPhone, pocket camera, DSLR).  If I remove all videos, the Export to Video works fine (1080p or 720p).  If I add any video, the export hangs just a little way into the export (progress bar maybe 5%).  The videos I've tried have been short (2 sec to 45 sec), and I've let the export run for more than an hour.  The activity monitor shows very little Lightroom or dynamiclinkmediaserver activity after an initial burst.  The Slideshow plays fine on the screen with videos included, its just the Export to Video that isn't working.

 

I have tried resetting preferences, turning off GPU support, turning text overlays off, turning music off, adding only one of different sources of videos, and have not been able to get the Export to Video to complete when a video is selected.  My test slideshow has only 4 photos and 1 video in it.  The full slideshow would have hundreds of photos and a couple dozen videos.

 

When I look in <user> Library > Caches > Adobe > Lightroom > velo, I see all the components of the slideshow have been created (.png's for the photos, .png's for the text overlays, copies of the .MOV for the videos), if that means anything.

 

I am using a late 2012 MacBook Pro, running macOS Catalina (10.15.7) with Lightroom Classic 10.4, all software as up to date as possible.

 

Any suggestions as to how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

As a test:

  1. Select all the items included in the Slideshow
  2. File>Export as a Catalog... (do not include negatives)
  3. Open this catalog from Step 2  
  4.  Export Slideshow

 

What happens? Does it fail at the same place? Not at all?

Thanks for the response.  I tried something similar over the weekend, creating a new catalog and importing three images and one video into it.  Export to Video still stuck in the same place.  

 

I tried creating VM machines of Catalina and Big Sur in Parallels, thinking maybe a clean install would work differently, but they also failed in the same place.  I can't be sure those tests are completely valid because Parallels Desktop does not support 2D or 3D acceleration in OS X/macOS guest operating systems (installed inside the virtual machine), because Apple does not provide an API for creating a video driver with 2D/3D acceleration support.  So I can hear the audio from the video playing in Lightroom, but I can't see the video.  The Slideshow Play function works normally, just with no visuals.  Not sure if that would affect the Export to Video function.  But the Export to Video definitely hangs in the same place.

 

Any further suggestions would be appreciated!  I started to work with Adobe support on Friday afternoon, but didn't get very far because they wanted me to install the latest security release from Apple before proceeding (it had just come out within the last day).  Waiting to hear back from them today.

After spending 3 hours on the phone with two different support techs, the discovery was made that there is a bug in MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) that prevents the video from being exported.  Apparently the bug was fixed in MacOS 10.14 (Mojave), but came back.  It appears to be fixed in 11.3 (Big Sur).

So no help for me.  I can't regress my old laptop to Mojave, nor can I upgrade it to Big Sur (too old).  And my wife's iMac is stuck at High Sierra (too old), which won't run the current version of Lightroom Classic.  And my very large catalog is in LR 10.4.  Sigh.

Also, Pan and Zoom and Zoom to Fill Frame are turned off.  In fact, all checkboxes are turned off, and I've tried a Slide Length of 1.9 sec, 6 sec and 20 seconds.
