Lightroom Classic v9.2 Folders in Lr & Portable Drive Gone

My lightroom has been working great.  I work on an  2015 iMac  I went to the Galapagos 7/2019, the image importing was fine.  I processed many images from all the files.  Then 7 of 10 of my Galapagos folders faded out, and when I try to develop, I get a notice that "the file can not be found. This has never happened before, and I don't know how to get those folders back.  I no longer have those folders on my portable drive to re-import.  This has never happened on any imports before, in the years I've been using lightroom....

Very frustrated........

Thanks,  Nan

Does your folder tree in LR look like the folder tree in Finder?

If not, right-click "show parent" on the LR folders and see if that clears up any confusion.

I think I know the problem.  But have no idea how to fix it.

I have 10 galapagos folders.  I renamed them to identify which island whas which.

So, now I need to fix it.  How?

More than likely your Portable drive is failing. Hopefully you have a Back Up of all your images. If not make one ASAP of what images are left and can still be read and copied.

I have all the galapagos folders backed up in 2 desktop hard drives, and both HD's show all my processed & unprocessed images, which show in finder.  All my photos have been deleted on the portable passport.  The faded folders just won't open then up in LR.

I have no problems with any other folder, from years back, and those more recent than the galapagos.

Which drive does LR expect the images to be on?

In the Library module, right-click on the folder and select "show in Finder". What is there?

I've tried this before.  When I right click on the files, it goes to another folder, from 2016.  And the galapagos folders are not there at all.  I'm truly perplexed..........

Also when I right click on the "Anya" folder,  finder asks if I want to merge folder into "Anya".  Weird....
