@stephan344798907d97 ,

You stated " I just downloaded Lightroom Classic"

The curren version of Lightroom Classic does not have a download, you

 are required to up use the installer from Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application, are you referring to an earlier of Lightroom.

Please advise the version number of Lightroom you are attempting to install?

Odd.

I asked about it being brand new or not, because one issue that can occur, but not often, and only to a few, is the preferences file getting corrupted. The very preferences file that was being read. This is an actual file LrC creates, and can modify. And it is not all about preferences (well not the preference you set). This file does not get recreated upon updates, upgrades, or even reinstall.

Now as your copy is brand new, it makes very little sense that it would be corrupt. Your computer did not have some odd issue occur during the install did it?

You can, just in case, reset (i.e. delete) the preferences file, what the heck, nothing is working, so why not try. A bit of time you may never get back, but not much, mind you I hive this very little of a chance that this is the issue.:

I suggest, in the Adobe Creative Cloud App on the Lightroom Classic, select Uninstall. Then restart your computer and try the Lightroom Classic install again.

It looks like something is unique to your machine.

At Adobe.com  go to the Help and Support menu item -> Contact Us. A chat window will pop up.

I am trying to remember if the following is a bit out of date, if some additional mods are required. But one issue common on MACOS from Catalina and newer is a Apple Message that many users either ignore or miss, and they then have to fix later. This relates to security on MACOS and trusting programs.
