Hi I tried to use the downloader to have Lightroom on my pc (I have Windows), but when I sign in it just says 'library not found' and I just want to add new photos from my laptop but there is no option for that at all. Do you know what can I do to actually select them? Thanks

Correct answer Rob_Cullen

The "Lightroom Downloader" app is only for users of Lightroom (the Cloud version) and who want to download their PHOTOS from the Cloud. (As in the case of cancelling or terminating a subscription.)

Installing any Adobe App (including Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, etc) is done via the install of the 'Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop" app. This app 'downloads' and automatically installs the app (also checking your subscription status.). Of necessity, a paid subscription is required to use the apps longer than a 7-day trial.

Rob

I subscribed for the first time last evening. Judging by what you replied there is no sense for me to install any app since I am not cancelling or terminating a subscription! Use my browser and login to my account and start using Lightroom is the normal procedure is that correct?

Use my browser and login to my account and start using Lightroom

If you have subscribed to either the Adobe Photography Plan, or the Adobe Lightroom Plan (which is it?), you download from Adobe the application to install on your PC, and then run that application. You don't use your web browser to use Lightroom, you use the application on your PC.

If you are using either Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, you can upload files* to the cloud and then use a mobile device or web browser to edit and perform other tasks on the uploaded files.

* actually, Lightroom Classic can upload only smart previews, while Lightroom can upload your original files

Please be specific. What is the exact name of this downloader? Where did you find it? (give us the exact web site link). What is the exact complete unedited wording of the error message you get? Please show us a screen capture of your entire screen when this happens — please use the "Insert Photos" icon here at adobe.com to include your screen capture in your reply. Do NOT attach files.

It's this one: https://lightroom.adobe.com/lightroom-downloader

It's not an error message, it doesn't let me screenshot it now, but it's simply a small window 'Lightroom downloader' with the main black page saying 'no library found', as if it wasn't connected to the actual account, but my main issue is that I can't upload files at all. Expect this text, there are only: 'edit', 'download', 'window', 'help' and none of them seem to be useful. I also tried to simply move a photo into the window but that doesn't work either.

Are you at all talking about Lightroom Classic, either in your original post or this latest post?

You have posted in the Lightroom Classic forum, but your question apparenlty is not about Lightroom Classic. You want to post in the Lightroom (Ecosystem) forum.

If, as you said you want "... to have Lightroom on my pc", then you first have to go to Adobe.com and download the 7 day free trial or pay for your software.
