lightroom exploring wrong image

is this a known issue? workflow, create virtual copy. edit on 1 of 2. when i'm done editing, i export edited photo, but what is saved to my desktop is the unedited version? i have the latest version of lightroom cc (paid) and the latest version of macos (screenshot attached). i also have a video showing my delimena. any suggestion would be welcomed. thanks in advance.

feel rather silly, but somehow under file settings it got changed to original. so, i just had to select which file type and magic. 😅
