While doing any number of things in LR or while having LR running in the background, my iMac computer will freeze and reboot itself. I'm a pretty patient person but I'm in busy season as a photographer and I just cant keep going this way and still meet deadlines. Any suggestions?

To any Apple OS specialist. What tools exist in MAC OS to check on crash status, error messages, reports, events?

Actualy, it is probably hardware related. Now Lightroom is a fairly aggressive program in terms of abusing resources. Photoshop is a tike in comparison. Now if Lightroom is in the background, then what is  it doing? Do you have Face detect running? Address Lookup running? Some odd sync? If not, how Lightroom just sitting their bring down your computer?

Now, do you have anything other than a mouse and a keyboard attached? Another external drive? A smartphone? second monitor? some sort of hub? etc etc. If you disconnect those, does the computer still crash?

What about ALL of your hard drives?  A full check.

     A RAM test?

Might want to see the techs at an apple store for a health checkup.

"my iMac computer will freeze and reboot itself"

Computer freezing and rebooting is always caused by a hardware malfunction or a bad driver.

Thanks for taking the time to respond dj_paige. I've seen a good number of other LR users complaining of the same problem. It only happens when I'm using LR. I'm entirely sure its a hardware issue. The program does take up a H U G E amount of memory.
