Lightroom freezes during import - import less pics (MAC) - need to import twice

Hi everybody!

My Lightroom freezes when importing images. It's been quite some time that when I import images it freezes and it never import all of them. After some time I stop the importing, then more images appear in the bar, but not all of the images in the SD card. Then I have to proceed to import once more the missing images. 

 

This happens with different cameras and different SD cards. I have a MacBook Pro and use an external card reader.

Hello - to eliminate the card, reader, cables can you try to copy the files to a folder on your hard drive and import from there? If you can import successfully from here it will likely point to your card reader or possibly your cables.
