Lightroom Freezing on Develop

Hi all, looking for some help on getting Lightroom/Lightroom Classic working for me!

Whenever I click to go from an image in the library to Develop/Detail, the image will load in just fine, I'll have the editing options on the side, but whenever I go to click on something, the program freezes (get the "not responding" note at the top of the tab).  I have to shut down the program, it won't un-freeze if I wait long enough.
I just signed up for the trial, so I was hoping to be able to use the program to see if I liked it enough to subscribe for the year, but so far it's been unusable.

I've tried going in to preferences and turning off "Use Graffics Processor", but that hasn't helped.

Program is up to date from what I can tell (Lightroom 5.3, Classic 11.3.1).
Computer Specs (let me know if I need to add something here!):
Windows 10 Pro (64bit)
Intel Core i7-9750H CPU @ 2.6GHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GDDR6 @8GB
32GB Ram

Any ideas?

First: Make sure your GPU driver is updated to the latest available version directly from Nvidia.

It does show your card as fully supported, does it? ... it should

Second: Try if it helps to reset preferences: https://www.beart-presets.com/blog/how-to-reset-lightroom-preferences

Thanks for your reply!  It looks like my Nvidia update didn't properly install, so I was still using an older version.  I've updated, and that seems to have fixed the issue.
Thanks so much for your help!
