Lightroom Keeps Jumping to MacBook Screen in Dual Display Setup

Hi everyone, I have a question.

I’m using a MacBook Pro M3 Max 16" and recently got an Apple Studio Display. I now work with a dual-screen setup.

The problem is that I always use Lightroom, and its window keeps jumping back to the MacBook screen several times a day — even though it's set to full screen on the Studio Display.

In System Settings, the Apple Studio Display is selected as the primary monitor.
macOS version: 15.5

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Or does anyone know how to fix it?

Hi @iridios

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. To help us better understand what's happening, could you please share a few more details?

  • Which version of Lightroom are you currently using?
  • Are you using Lightroom across two displays/screens?
  • Which module are you working in when the issue occurs (Library, Develop, etc.)?
  • Does the screen jump happen when using a specific tool or feature, or does it occur randomly?

Additionally:

  • When did you first notice this behavior?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your system, such as an operating system update, a Lightroom update, a new antivirus installation, or any newly installed extensions/plugins?

It would also be very helpful if you could share a short screen recording demonstrating the issue. Seeing the behavior in action will help us investigate it more effectively.

Looking forward to your response.

The problem has persisted for many years, but today it was so annoying that I decided to look for a fix. I’m using the latest version of Lightroom Classic on macOS 26.5.1. I have the main window on a BenQ SW321C monitor, connected via a HyperDock. Mostly after waking from sleep, but sometimes at random moments, the fullscreen (Shift+F) Lightroom window jumps to the MacBook’s display. I then have to exit fullscreen (Shift+F), move the window back to the big monitor, and re-enter fullscreen (Shift+F). Not a big deal, but if it happens a dozen times a day, it’s really frustrating.

Same issue here. Very annoying! And I don’t use separate spaces for the two monitors, but lightroom keeps jumping randomly to the MacBooks screen.

In my experience it's best to not use the option in MacOS to treat each monitor as a separate Space.
