What version number of Lightroom Classic are you using. Was it working previously. Provide details of your computer system.

Try the following in Lightroom Classic > Preferences > Performance tab, turn off GPU acceleration. Then reboot Lightroom and see if the application starts.

The first thing that you should try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue.

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

If Lightroom doesn't start correctly the please see "Solution 2" in the document behind the link below.

Troubleshoot GPU issues | Lightroom Classic (adobe.com)

Another step is to try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

If this doesn't help we need more informations about your environment.

Which operating system do you use?

Which version of Lightroom do you use?

Please post the exact version and not only phrases as "recent", "latest" and so on.

Please provide also a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item.

There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Do you get an error message? If yes, please post the exact message or an screenshot.

Operating System: Windows 10 Home, 65-bit

My Adobe lightroom works absolutely fine, but it's Adobe lightroom Classic which is having the issue,

I have tried to disable the graphic processor, however, when I try to launch LightroomCC again, it comes up with the same small black banner saying "Lightroom - Opening Catalog:[catalog name]-v12-2.lrcat" and doesn't do anything, when I go to the folder where the catalog is, there are 3 files; [catalog name]-v12-2.lrcat-lock, [catalog name]-v12-2.Ircat-shm, [catalog name]-v12-2.Ircat-wal, the shm and wal ones keep disappearing and reappearing. And then I have to go into task manager to stop task, to stop it loading, if I try opening a different catalog it just thinks I'm opening the same one as before and the black banner comes up and nothing happens...

for Lr, the system info is - 6.1 x64

Thanks everyone for your help! I've managed to make it work now. There was a newer copy of the catalog with an additional name and I was trying to open the older one, but when I reset preferences and then opened this newer one, it managed to open what I wanted.

Cool, now while that is working, bring up preferences, look at the general tab, and verify what is set for the default catalog, perhaps most recent, that would be Ok, but if specifically that old catalog, that would be bad.

Oh, and you do keep backups on a separate drive, correct?

And backups of your photos, correct?
