Lightroom stuck on import screen

when I open Lightroom I am looking in the library mode with the screen showing " click the import button to begin" and I can't seem to get out of it. I'm sure it's a simple fix but I simply don't know it, please help.

What happens when you click on the import button???? Describe in detail. Or show us screen captures.

I also have no photo’s listed in the catalog, perhaps that’s the real problem. How do I reconnect to my catalog which has thousands of photo’s?

Legend

You have opened the wrong catalog file. Apparently you have opened a brand new empty catalog.

Go to File->Open Recent and select each catalog shown there until you find the one that shows your photos.
