Question

Lightroom sync not working - not downloading all changes / photos

I synced a new folder on Mac with Lightroom Mobile. Then I edited photos on Lightroom Mobile with my iPad Pro. I flagged and edited some images there. When I opened Lightroom web, I saw everything online, but my Mac was not viewing all changed and flagged images. Then I edited those invisible images again on Lightroom web but no change on my Mac. I tried to purge the Raw Images cache, no change. I know deleting all data from my Lightroom Mobile would help, but it's not funny to do it daily (specially with 2500 images). I'm very disappointed with Lightroom sync, good idea, but very unreliable solution. Lightroom online is a catastrophe, with a new auto-tone feature, just opening already changed image (on Lightroom mobile) destroys all its settings. When I turned the new auto-tone feature off, it was ok.

I'm having the same problem. While travelling I made changes to well over 1,00 images on my iPad Pro. The changes and flags show up on the web and on my phone so Sync is working everywhere except my desktop. I am using the latest updated Lightroom Classic on a Windows 7 PC and a Windows 10 laptop (all software and OS up up date). My catalog and photos are on an external hard drive.

I have tried purging cache on both iPad and Desktop, signing out and signing in to Lightroom account on both iPad and desktop, rebuilding Sync Data and removing collections that had photos which were causing sync errors (and removing the photos from All Synced Photos.

Is there any way to save these weeks of work?

I seem to be having a similar issue but from Lightroom CC on the computer syncing edits to the mobile.

I have the same problem too. But i found a way how to get Lightroom Classic to load the changes i did on the iPad. When you jump between settings in the edit history suddenly a entry in the snapshot list appears. If you select this „Lr mobile“ snapshot you have the pictures as developed on iPad. Now you can delete the snapshot.

But this solution is very time consuming to do on every picture.

I'll try that, but you know if you are browsing and picking from 1000 images and then editing the selected ones, it's very time consuming to check each chosen image whether it was synced properly or not.

Hi JanProsek,

Please refer this article Problem syncing photos with Lightroom mobile and let us know if that helps in syncing your images across all devices.

Thanks,

Akash

Hi Akash

As the linked advice doesn’t help, can you offer a follow up response on what to do next to track down the cause of this defective behaviour?

Or can I conclude from my brief trial period that the sync is indeed unreliable in some scenarios and isn’t right for me as a solution?

thanks in advance!

Could you please send me a LR Classic diagnostic log  - best as a private message with a downloadable dropbox link.

You can trigger the log via LR Desktop preferences -> Lightroom Sync and when you hold down the alt key you will notice a generate diagnostic log button

Hope this helps to get a clue about your issue. Guido/ Lr Mobile QE

btw: could it be that you access  your Lr catalog on 2 different machines...e.g a laptop and desktop machine?

Hi, here is the log. It's very frustrating, the sync is not working properly. Today I edited my photos on iPad and continued on Mac. Some of my photos where NOT flagged on Mac as were before on iPad and other photos were not changed as were on iPad. When I use another mobile device - iPhone, I see all changes. When I access the collections online, I see all changes as I left them on mobile devices. The problem is in desktop sync system, I think is a deep problem. Rebuilding synced photos is not a solution. It will occur again when new changes are done.

Here is the log generated on Mac Lightroom Classic CC:

Dropbox - lrsync_log-2.html

Thanks.
