Lightroom will not open launch

Question

Please help!This is the second time this has happened to lightroom along with while using photoshop it would just shut itself down!I turn my pc on, click on LRC and I see "The lightroom catalog named "lightroom catalog" cannot be opened because another application already has it opened. quit the other copy of lightroom before trying to launchoptionschoose a different catalog  continue  exit None work I check in task manager and there is no lightroom running Can anyone suggest what i can do to fix this issue and to avoid it in the future?thanks

"it would just shut itself down!"  As your LrC crashed, the lock file was not deleated as it would normaly have been upon proper closure. What are you trying to do in LrC when that occurs? Is it often?
