Lightroom won't launch

I have had Lightroom for many years but I haven't used it in a while.  When starting Lightroom I get a screen that says "Welcom to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom."  It asks that I enter or buy a serial number.  After entering the requested information and the serial number nothing happens.  I have uninstalled the software and re-installed it but that didn't correct the problem.  When I sign into the Adobe website I can see my product listed with the correct serial number so why can't I run the software?

Thanks,

Art

The only GUESS I have is that Lightroom 1.0 may be too old to run on Windows 7, but I don't really know. It might be time to upgrade your Lightroom.

Thanks for responding.  It has run on this computer in the past (Windows 7) so I don't know why it no longer will.  I will certainly consider upgrading.  Thanks again for you help.
