Lightroom won't see/import .avi files

I am new to Lightroom and in the process of importing years of photos and videos. Everything is importing no problem except for .avi files. Lightroom doesn't see them when importing. The files are not damaged as I am able to play them in a number of other applications. Is there a button I'm missing somewhere? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

    Correct answer John Waller

Which version of Lightroom? Which operating system?

According to Adobe, .AVI files are no longer supported in Lightroom Classic 8.0 on Macs.

Adobe Lightroom supported video file formats

More info: Avi files no longer supported

I'm using Lightroom 8.0 on a Mac running 10.14.1... so it looks like I'm out of luck. Damn!

I guess now I try to figure out how to convert .avi files to something  Lightroom understands...

    Thanks for your help!
