I was typing a folder name when lightroom opened and whatever I was typing must have started facial recogniction. "pausing" it in the upper corner does not stop the process at all and everything I found online doesnt seem to do anything!

Looking for help on how to stop it as i am afriad itll crash the app or my computer if it continues!

You can disable the face recognition in the catalog settings.

Following the steps below:

  1. (Mac) Select Lightroom Classic > Catalog Settings.
(Windows) Select Edit > Catalog Settings.
  2. On the "Metadata" tab, deselect the option "Automatically Detect All Faces In All Photos".
  3. Close the catalog settings dialog box.
My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

Tried this.  The metadata tab was already deselected, but good ole lightroom just kept throwing faces on the screen.  So this doesn't always work.  Any other ideas.   I absolutely hate this feature.

Got the same issue: reading faces although the choice is deselected.
