LR 13.5.1 hanging up

I've started having issues with LR 13.5.1 (or just before). When I change screens or focus away from LR to another app or file on the desktop, when I return to LR, it has a scrim/screen over the image and the program is hung up, with the Windows scrolling wheel showing. I have waited up to an hour and it never reloads properly. This will happen with a small catalog of a few hundred and with large ones with thousands of images. It can also happen when I change between work areas of LR itself.  I have checked the Task Manager, and LR is using maybe 50 - 60 % of CPU and around 10 - 20 GB (of 128 GB) RAM. The only way out of this is to crtl-alt-del to Task Manager and kill the instance.

 

I've been using the same machine for almost four years (AMD Rythen Threadripper 3960x 24-core) under Win 10 and moved to Win 11 a few months ago, but this problem started only a few days ago.  No new plug-ins or changes to settings. Any suggestions would be greatly apprecaited (I use LR about 4 - 5 hours a day, and this is a real deal killer.) Thanks for any suggestions.

The same thing happens to me. I need to restart my PC every time I use another application.

Enable HDR in Library: OFF

     

     

    So, GPU driver is up to date. And this GPU has a significant amount of VRAM (48 GB??). And GPU is what, four years old (release date)n ot so bad (my RTX 3070 about the same, works great) So why in Auto LrC comes back with limited support? Perhaps change that to Custom, and see what options you can pick, all the way down to Export, and see if any error messages show up. Or perhaps, does the  Camera RAW GPU Confi.txt file need to be reset?

     

    GPU issues can really foul LrC up. This GPU should not be one of the troublesome ones.

      wil try the previous suggestion when I am back in front of the machine.

      What (if anything) was the task LrC was performing immediately before this happened?

       

      Please post the information in Help->System Info down to the GPU information. We don't need and don't want anything after that.

      There is no pattern. I might be deleting, selecting or editing images before shifting focus to the desktop or Explorer. Upon returning, it is grayed out and DoA.

      Hi @dennishmiller ,

      Can you try this workflow :

      1) Close Lightroom 

      2) Take a backup of  this folder : C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom  and rename it to LightroomOld

      3) Restart Lightroom

       

      This solution has worked for some folks who were facing a similar issue. So, can you please try this and let me know if that works?
