LR 2.4 automatically  senses a CF card and starts up...I dont want this..

I UN-checked the box

"  preferences; import; 'show dialog when a memory card is detected'   "

but it rechecks itself when it LR closed...  and reopened...

i.e   I shut down LR...and reopen the dialog and sure enough it is rechecked..

I dont want LR to auto  try and respond to a CF card inserted

I also have adobe elements 4 installed  and tried to find any related stuff that MIGHT be 'rechecking' the box ...as an ADOBE system parameter...or something

this SEEMED to start occuring when I installed the latest LR 2.4....no issues before this

during last 2 yrs etc

using Win7 RC ... BUT this was NOT happening for past months... with previous LR and Win7...

and Win7 beta also...no issues..........JUST the new LR 2.4 install

Preferences, Import, Check box is the right place. Since it's not sticking, delete Prefs and reset would be my recommendation.

How to locate Preferences files in LR

tommylee-

You must have a LR Prefs file somewhere!

IAE, enough others are reporting it didn't do the trick, and other than just keep LR running in the bg, or disabling software about which I know little, (d/l and O/S stuff)  I dunno what to say here.

FIRST

thanks for your time...

I have not a clue ... where the 'file' is....

this is a 2.4 (maybe also 64bit win7) issue...

pretty bothersome...

I was able to rip thru 3 sessions ..load...develop... output.. by noon

now I have this speed bump on the track...

at least I am not alone....

does Adobe ever pastch their patches.. or do we wait...(or load 2.3) ?

I MAY try this back on my xp pro drive... loading 2.4LR

but I can see LR 2.4 is not ready for me...

I just created a new CATALOGUE for July and saved...with the unchecked box ...within JULY main folder..

hoping for a virgin birth of prefs etc...

but it still pops up checked..

just trying 'things'

thanks again to all

For Vista the prefs are located in (User Name)/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Preferences. By default they are hidden files, so in "/Folder and Search Options/View" the "Show hidden files and folders" box must be checked. Deleting them didn't work for me.

I have the same problem. Windows Vista and LR2.4, deleted the prefs file and restarted LR, unchecked in import preferences but next time the box is still checked.

As the OP stated, unchecking the box does not stick. The next time LR is opened the box is re-checked.

FYI, adproxy.exe/Adobe Photo Downloader 3.0 is not checked in my msconfig/Startup either.

Lightroom 2 v2.4  / Windows 7 64bit

tommylee1023 stated my situation exactly. Never a problem till 2.4. Not a major really, except it interrupts my workflow and is becoming an irritant. I use Dowloader Pro, and now have to kill LR, and do the dowload manually, then open Lightroom . . . Where do we go from here? Help appreciated - IM

Same problem here on vista and win7. It's new with 2.4 and a real pain. Even choosing 'run as administrator' doesn't make it stick, so I don't think it's a premissions problem.

thank you for confirming this w/VISTA and Win7 .......

I really like the LR product..

but I believe this is enough trouble for - what LR is USED FOR...WORKFLOW - that Adobe NEEDS to immediately fix this w/version 2.45

not good for their up-to-now good rep for updates...

thanks again

A workaround is to change the setting in Windows Control Panel->Autoplay->Picutres before you insert the memory card.

Of course, you would have to do this each time you insert a memory card after LR 2.4 has been launched.

yes ...you are right

if you set autoplay (2 places 'mixed content' and 'pictures'...that are captive by Adobe ) to 'no action'

THEN insert CF card...

LR wont auto start...

and after loading files REMOVE CF card...THEN start LR...

BUT........................................................................

ONCE LR STARTS.....

it resets those two autoplay settings.. and you are back to the loop....

LR is setting the stuck checked box... and my unchecking only lasts for one cycle ...

then back to square one

thanks though because this helped me observed...myself chasing my tail

Adobe has to fix this - I think....

or include a glass of wine with every transfer....

thanks again

Here's a link. I spent 30 minutes wandering around the maze that is Adobe.com trying to retrace my steps. Finally I Googled Binged it.

This has been reported but please use the form as the more information supplied the easier to find the solution.

Adobe are closed all this week so a fix may take some time.

Apologies for this slipping through the testing regime......

I'm just wondering. Has anyone tried permanently disabling autoplay, system wide, for a specific drive?  In earlier versions of windows there were numerous ways to do so - registry mod, Tweak UI, gpedit.msc. I know I hate autoplay on anything and at times I'd go through the whole cumbersome process and the settings wouldn't "stick".

Try google for 'disable autoplay' in Win7. Worth a shot.
