LR classic 7.1 on Mac and iPhone 7+ movies - H.265

Just updated LR classic and just returned from vacation. I imported all of my images from LRCC into Classic. My movies were not working, so I plugged my phone in and uploaded manually. Still not working. Did some research - found this thread - Getting errors importing videos from iPhone 7 with Lightroom 7. Works fine with Lightroom 6.

Sounds like this new format is not currently supported in LR Classic, but is in LRCC. I don't really want to go back and revert them to the older version. Will LR Classic support this new format soon - can I just hang tight and wait for them to work? I'm not in a hurry.

You could add your detailed opinion to this feature request in the official Adobe feedback forum: HEVC Support for Lightroom Classic Mac | Photoshop Family Customer Community . Be sure to click Vote in the upper-right corner.  (Adobe product developers don't usually participate in this forum, but they do in the feedback forum.)

The h.265 format (HEVC - High Efficiency Video Codex) and HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) is being developed by the same group who developed the xxMPGx format.

Adobe is ahead of the curve on this evidenced by the fact that Premiere Pro has HEVC listed as a source and 8K video as output.

We think people have troubles syncing now?  Just wait until 8K video hits main street.

With iPhone we have a choice >

I converted a HEVC using Media Encoder and it plays in Classic.

One on the left is HEVC - no play  | One on the right will play in Classic
