LR Classic and Canon EOS R RAW (CR3) files

LR Classic 10.1

MacBook Pro Mid 2015

Big Sur

2.5GHZ

16GB RAM

100GB free disk space

I have this week taken ownership of a Canon EOS R camera. The RAW files are .CR3 files.

Previously I have been suing a Canon EO5D MKIII with Lightroom Classic with no problems. Those are CR2 files.

Now with the images from the ESO R, LR keep hanging, showing the rainbow wheel of death, and rebooting while trying to process the images. This is in Develop mode. I have reverted to compressed RAW (cRAW) files and still the same issues. It is unworkable.

I edited a few images in LR CC and all felt fine there.

I have shut down all other applications, still the same.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

Stephen

(oh, the disappointment when you get a new toy and all is not right)

Correct answer DdeGannes

Under Camera Raw in Preferences I see "Use Graphics Processor". This is set to Auto.

Is that it? Do I turn this to "Off"?

Yes. To be specific do it in LrC Preferences. Camera Raw is a plugin for Photoshop, the same processing engine is built into LrC.
