LR Classic CC-DropBox-External HardDives

I'm a hobby photographer and digital artist and live part-time in two different states. I have a MacBook Pro. At my primary home location I have two-external HDs, a and a 6TB WD Backup HD.  At both of my primary and second home locations, I have Apple Thunderbolt Monitors, that I connect my laptop to, for processing and designing artwork. I use LRCC primarily for organizing photos and PSCC for designing art.

I have been transporting one of the external HDs back and forth from my primary home to the second home. This is not only a hassle but I worry about damaging the external HD in transient. I'm wondering if DropBox might be the answer. I'd like to put all the digital files I need to work on into DropBox, eliminating the need to transport one of the external HDs. I would NOT be moving ALL the files off of the external harddrive into DropBox ...  but would move a BIG CHUNK of data into DropBox. I would keep my LR catalog is on my laptop.

When I return home I would move all the digital files out of DropBox back into the external HD. I plan on purchasing the DropBox Plus or Business Plan.

Would this work? Would I have problems doing this?

That would be one way of doing it, I think. Have you considered creating a shared collection of the images that you want to work on while you are away? Then you should go to Lightroom.adobe.com and work on those images, making adjustments that would apply back to the master images automatically. Not telling you how to do things, just a thought.

Will check it out. Is this what LR Mobile does?

Yes, but you don't have to use a mobile phone. You can create a shared collection that you can Either look at and work on using your mobile phone or other mobile device. Or, you can usually laptop and go to that web address and login and have all the same editing capabilities of the new Lightroom CC program to make adjustments to your images. The adjustments that you make will then be applied to the master images when you go back to your main computer. The shared collection will be smart previews, not full-sized images. But they should be big enough to enable you to do a lot of work while you are away from your main computer. Like I said, I'm not telling you how to run your workflow. It was just a thought of how things could work for you. It might not, but something to consider.
