Quick summary to explain the issue I am experiencing ...
(1) Got new Windows 10 computer; created the same file structure (including Windows user name) for locations of my photos in LR Classic as on the old computer (more on this below)
(2) Copied photos and LR catalog over to the new computer and installed LR Classic
(3) Open LR Classic and located the catalog - everything looks good, but ...
(4) Whenever I import photos into LR Classic (or perform a roundtrip to Photoshop or another plugin), the resulting new file does not appear in the original photo folder; instead, it shows up at the top of the Library (see attached file)
(5) PHYSICALLY, the file is where it should be, but LR Classic is confused about its location and I must perform a series of manual steps to get the file "back where it should be." And I need to do this on any import or roundtrip.
Now as for the reference in (1) above ... I recently realized that when I created my user name on the new computer, I specified my first name as "david" as compared to "David" on the old computer. I'm wondering if there is something in LR Classic's SQL database that is messing up because of the user name (and correspondingly, user folder name) case difference.
Does anyone have any insight into this and/or possible solutions? Much appreciated.

You have encountered the problem commonly called "Capitalization error".
Simple Drag&Drop of Folders in the Lr Folder panel will not fix the problem, it will just continue to re-occur.
You must use a specific procedure to correct this-

DUPLICATE FOLDER CAPITALIZATION

Excellent. While I'm not happy to have experienced this issue, I certainly am glad that it's one that smart people have figured out how to resolve.
I'll be undertaking the fix today.
Thanks very much, WobertC.

All,
I attempted to resolve my Capitalization Error issue by following the procedure in the referenced resources, but I ran afoul of where the capitalization issue IS in my folder structure.
To reiterate, the user name on my current (new) computer is c:\Users\david; the user name on my old computer (where the Lightroom catalog existed previously) is c:\Users\David.
As I understand the instructions for the fix, the protocol is to navigate in the Library module to the folder where the capitalization issue is identified and perform the updates to the folder location.
But when I try to Show the Parent Folder so that I can do that, the following error message is displayed:
An internal error has occurred: Database "C:\Users\david\Pictures\Catalogs\Lightroom\LRClassic-MasterCatalog.lrcat": UNIQUE constraint failed: AgLibraryFolder.rootFolder, AgLibraryFolder.pathFromRoot Statement: UPDATE AgLibraryFolder SET rootFolder = ?, pathFromRoot = ?, WHERE
I don't know how to respond to this and I'm also beginning to worry that no matter what I do, this problem will continue until I deal with the case difference at the root level (which is not at all straightforward to resolve).
What would you suggest as my next steps? Again, thanks in advance.

I am definitely not the expert with answers for this problem, but I looked again at your screen-clip and would like to suggest you try again with these suggestions- See the attached screen-clip.
And if this does not work hopefully others will come to this thread with an answer.
Backup your catalog.
1. Create the CapsFix folder as per the instructions at- https://www.lightroomqueen.com/capitalization-catalog-error/
2. Update the Folder {C:\11-10-2019 Big Boy 4014} the the {CapsFix} folder,
3. Update the Folder{CapsFix} to {C:\Pictures\Photos\2019\11November\11-10-2019 Big Boy 4014}. Allow it to merge.
You will need to repeat the process for the other 'wayward' folders {01-21-2020 Savegre River in Motion}, etc.
(My fingers are crossed!!)
