LR Classic keep crashing

LR Classic 13.1 keeps crashing. (My OS is up to date.) I've read that turning off the GPU might work, but the app crashes so fast I don't have time to do anything.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Any fixes?

What Adobe Plan did you subscribe to?

The Photography Plan perhaps?

Photoshop's running. But just discovered that InDesign won't work either. Ug.

Where do I find PS system info when the app is open?

Well that is a bit messy,

Cleaning it up some an d cutting out a lot:

Adobe Photoshop Version: 25.4.0
Operating System: Mac OS 14.3.0
System architecture: Intel CPU
Processor speed: 2300 MHz
Built-in memory: 32768 MB
Free memory: 17559 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 28506 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 70 %
GPUName: AMD Radeon Pro 5500M
GPUVendor: AMD
GPU accessible RAM: 4,278 MB
Display: 1 Display Bounds: (0, 0) -> (3584, 2240) Display scale: 2 High DPI Monitor Main Display Display Type: WCG ------- Sniffer output

Device 1
Name: AMD Radeon Pro 5500M
GPU accessible RAM: 4,278 MB
VRAM: 4,278 MB
Driver version: UNKNOWN

That GPU driver version stated as Unknown, may be a MACOS related issue, as Apple forces GPU drivers via MACOS updates, not via GPU Mfg driver downloads, it could be Apple simply does not include that info.. I see yo have a brand new MACOS, so the GPU Driver is probably the latest

Nothing stands out as Ohhh that is it.

Also, their are two possibilities to investigate.

First up, does opening a different catalog, or a new catalog present a different outcome/ This can be accomplished/tested without first starting LrC in your normal method (as that currently fails) i.e. just clicking/double clicking on the icon

Instead, If Lightroom is closed, hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) / Opt key (Mac) while opening/starting Lightroom. In the Select Catalog dialog, it lists your recently used catalogs, or you can open another existing catalog or create a new catalog.

See if a new catalog works.

If so, perhaps the existing catalog is corrupt???

Second up, possible computer account issue, see the link below , trying a different MACOS user account (ADMIN) and seeing if LrC starts. (oh and read the link, it contains additional info that might be important)

I haven't created any catalogues. I only just installed LRC this morning. So when I opened it - it was a first. Then it crashed. Again. And again. I unstalled it and tried again. Same issue. As I mentioned my OS (Mac) is up to date.

I can try your 2nd idea ....

As a new LrC user, and an app install that does not 'work' - You should be contacting Adobe Support to see if they can 'get you going'.

Contact adobe support by clicking here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
In the chat field (lower right of screen), Typing “Agent” into the chat text field will bypass the initial chatbot.
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human
If you are not able to get to the chat window, then disable your ad-blockers, firewall, enable cookies/scripts on your browser. If it still fails then change your browser/machine/network.

If you're contacted via email or private message, it's more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative. Double check for an employee badge if contacted in the forums and look for an {adobe.com} domain in the email address if you click reply to an email. Any other method of contacting (or offering to contact you) is almost certainly a scam, https://community.adobe.com/t5/using-the-community-discussions/staying-safe-in-the-adobe-support-com...

Please do not share any personal/confidential information like email ID, bank details, etc here. This is a public forum.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

LR Classic 13.1 keeps crashing.

Is there any particular task in LrC that appears to cause this, or is it seemingly random? Please be specific and detailed.

No particular task. It's my first time "using" it. So I haven't done anything with it other than install it and open it. Then it crashes.

Also, in the link below, you can find a way to manually change that use graphics processor without first starting LrC

/edit/ Ok, I will get back on this

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.

Followup

As you may not be able to accomplish the above, try in PS, click on Help, click on System Information, Copy that, save it to a text file, then attach that text file in a reply.

Alternative, to get the same into via Lr instead of LrC or PS
