Question

LRC 11.0.1 raw file edit in Photoshop doesn't apply LR edits

I just updated from LRC 10 and PS 22 on Mavericks to LRC 11.0.1 and PS 23 on Catalina on my Intel Mac Mini. Now, when I right-click on a raw file (iPhone Halide DNG or Canon CR2) and select "Edit in Adobe Photoshop 22", the file brought into PS doesn't include any of the LR edits. Even editing a JPG file and choosing "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" brings the unedited file into PS.

I've recently updated to the latest PS (23.0.2) and LR Classic (11.01), running Monterey. When I select Merge to Panorama in Photoshop, it opens into an 8-bit Adobe RGB file with the colors off, even though in the LR prefs I've selected Pro RGB 16-bit conversions. Anyone else having this problem? Am I doing something wrong? I've made thousands of panos until today and never had a conversion problem like this before.

I'm also getting a warning when I do the merge that my version of Camera Raw (14.01) might not be compatible- but I'm up to date with that too.

Lightroom Classic and ACR must be on version parity. The top dialog is telling you that you need to update ACR. When you ask Lightroom Classic to do any editing within Photoshop itself, it hands off the raw to ACR to do this, then open Photoshop proper after rendering. So the answer is, update ACR.

According to Creative Cloud, I've got the latest version (14.0.1), updated eight days ago- is there a newer version I sho;uld have?

I just discovered that Creative Cloud says I have Camera Raw 14.0.1 installed, but Photoshop 23.0.1 About Plugins says it is using Camera Raw 13.4.0.872. I clicked the boxes in the Creative Cloud installer to remove previous versions and migrate settings. I don't know what to do now. Creative Cloud doesn't give me the option to reinstall or install other versions of Camera Raw. It looks like it botched the install somehow and is in an inconsistent state, although everything looked like it worked when I did the updates.

I just checked the MacBook Pro where I did the same updates, and the Creative Cloud installer made the same mistake, not updating Camera Raw yet saying it did in the tool tip in the Installed apps list. I just confirmed that

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CC/File Formats/Camera Raw.plugin/Contents/Info.plist

says

13.4 (872), Copyright © 2021 Adobe Systems Incorporated

I solved the problem by using the Creative Cloud app to uninstall both Photoshop and Bridge, which I confirmed deleted /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins. Reinstalling both apps installed the 14.0.1 Camera Raw plug-in, and right-clicking to Edit in Lightroom Classic works now. Evidently using the Creative Cloud app to update Photoshop or Bridge does not update the Camera Raw plugin, but it thinks it has done so, preventing Camera Raw from actually getting updated.

Just to be more specific about versions, the Creative Cloud app says the Mac is Up to date on all of the photography apps I have installed: PS, Bridge, LRC, and Camera Raw. PS is actually 23.0.1; I was a little sloppy about the version in the post.

MAC OS 12.0.1 Monterray on iMac 2019
LR Classic 11.0
ACR 14.0
PS 23.0.0

Just like the title says, I make some edits in LR Classic then goto the menu option to start the roundtrip into PS 23 and I lost all my edits. PS seems to have the standard file as if it was just imported into LR, I lost all my LR edits.

I've done this 1000x before I updated LR and PS last night with no issues.

Some items to check

In LrC, in preferences, in External Editors, is the correct PS listed (For edit in Photoshop). Some have had to uninstall PS, then reinstall PS

In PS, what camera RAW version is stated. Some have not installed the new version, some have had to uninstall, then reinstall ACR

Some have found they need to start PS once before attempting to edit in PS, apparently to allow PS to complete the initialization of the new install. Might want to edit an image, then close. After that the normal process worked.

Some have reset the PS preferences/settings, and the LrC preference file.

I upgraded to MacOS 11.4 and then updated PS, Lightroom Classis, Bridge via the Aobe Updater App. I had already updated Camera Raw to 14.0 . My flow is to use Lightroom for the initial work and then if needed "Edit in" PS. I first saw the popup "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 14.0 for full compatibility" which made no sense so I clicked not to see and "opened anyway". I think that's the issue. Not sure why I get it as I have v14 of Camera Raw but how can I reset that setting so I can use the Lightroom settings? Thanks

So to add more to the story even tho Adobe Updater says I have CR 14 when I look is PS 2022 it says it is using CR 13.4. How can I re-do the Camera Raw installation or get PS up to 14?

So I think I resolved the issue. I downloaded the ACR 14 dmg file and installed it. I now see the LR edits when I "edit in PS 2022". I hope it was that easy.

Hi all,

When I opened up the latest version of LR Classic the pop-up dialogue box came up that I may need to update Camera Raw for full compatibiltiy. I accidently clicked on "don't show again" when asked if I wanted to "render with Lightroom". Now my edited LR images will not transfer to photoshop. What gets transferred is the unedited RAW. How do I fix this?

Thank you

Please provide full details of your Operating System, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop you have installed.

Provide actual version numbers, do not indicate "up to date" or "latest.
