LrC 13.0.1, Import, Preview Unavailable for this file

I recently starting having issues with LrC 13.0.1  running on my Mac OS Sonoma 14.1 .   Hardware is Mac Studio 2022.

I export pictures from Apple Photos, in format JPEG.      When I attempt to import these pictures,  a large percentage of the photos show "Preview unavailable for this file".    A smaller percentage show preview just fine.    All photos have the same permissions when view through Mac Terminal.    I can use Finder and Mac Preview and see the files without issues.     I have a 1 TB disk and only 58% of the disk is used so not a space problem.

I have restarted Mac, cleared all my caches.  Nothing has helped.   I upgraded to 13.0.1 several days ago.   I upgraded to MacOS 14.1 5 days ago.     Today is the first time I have used LrC extensively since the upgrade on both.   In fact, I had no issues with several imports earlier in the day.   Now I get the error with every import attempt.

I have also created  a new clean catalog and tried the import with the same results.

Anyone find see this problem and/or find a solution?    Adobe Support, any ideas?

Thanks,

Scott

I have the same Lightroom Classic and MacOS versions and got the same error message when exporting some photo's in JPEG format from Apple Photos and trying to import to LrC.  After reading your post I decided to export the photos in HEIC format.  This time the previews worked and i've imported in LrC ok.  I've not had this problem prior to the recent software and MacOS upgrades.

WORKAROUND:     The problem seems to be with the exports using JPEG format.     I have been able to export as PNG and HEIC formats.   These loaded into  LrC import preview without a problem (so far).

For JPEG format, I tried other method such as, loading the picture into Mac Preview then resaving, loading picture into Mac Preview and the duplicate and save.    This didn't work.   I also saved JPEG with and without meta data (title, keyword, location).  This didn't work.
