LRC desktop is not showing preview pictures on import, also, it is not showing all my computer files

Yes, I know I need to upgrade my desktop computer.  Windows 10,  Intel Core l7-3770 CPU, 3.4 Hz, 32 GB Ram.  However, LRC 14.01 worked fine a week ago, and now does not show preview photos on the import screen.  It also does not show all my files in the Folders section; I have a dedicated external hard drive that has all my photos and it only shows 2 old folders.  I can see them using File Explorer, but LRC does not.

What happened in a week of not being used?

Thanks,

I am not sure what happened or what I may have fixed, but the import and
preview are now working again. Everything looks like it did prior to it
having a seizure. Thank you all for the help, and instructions.

Again, thank you!

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hey @darrellc48914058

Thanks for sharing the basic details and a clear description of what’s going on.

It’s definitely strange for things to suddenly stop working after they’ve been fine—let’s try a few things that might help:

  • First, check that your external drive is still mounted with the same drive letter Lightroom Classic expects. If the letter changed, LrC won’t be able to find those folders.

  • In the Folders panel, right-click any missing folders and choose “Find Missing Folder” to reconnect them.

  • For the missing previews during import, try resetting LrC’s preferences. You can do this by holding Shift + Alt while launching Lightroom Classic and confirming the reset prompt.

Could you also share your full system info? You can grab that by going to Help > System Info, copying and pasting it into a text file, and attaching it to your reply. We’ll get to the bottom of this!

Thank you.

I have rechecked the external hard drive and did the ADD, so it now shows up
with subfolders. However, it still does not show any previews.

I have attached the system info you requested. Thank you for your help.

... and now does not show preview photos on the import screen.

What does it show? Please provide a screen capture of the entire Import dialog screen, using the "Insert Photos" icon.

It also does not show all my files in the Folders section; I have a dedicated external hard drive that has all my photos and it only shows 2 old folders. I can see them using File Explorer, but LRC does not.

We need another screen capture (or really several screen captures, one of LrC and one of Windows Explorer) using the above instructions.
