LRC fails to load / open

Every time i try to open LRC the following message appears and i have to shut down my mac and restart it. Any idea's as to why

Failed to create lock file inside the folder: keiths LR5 Images-2-2-2-v12.lrcat-data.

The process cannot access the folder because it is being used by another process.
