Question

Masking works once then stops until I restart Lightroom

Since the masking features were updated several updates ago I have not had success. I have been using an older version of Lighroom to avoid this headache but recently updated to the most recent version (12.2) and am having the same issue as previously. The masking will work once and then after the one time I get “Something went wrong. There was an unexpected error and your request could not be completed.” If I close Lightroom and reopen I can use the masks to select one more time.

I have updated my graphic drivers, and changed my GPU from auto to custom as mentioned fixed an issue like this in another forum.

I am running lighroom on windows 11.

I mask select subjects in all my images and would LOVE to utilize this new amazing masking feature but so far its just been a headache.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.10 GHz

GPU: AMD Radeon Vega 8

VRAM: 2048 MB

RAM: 12 GB

I am definitely pushing my computer to the max (in procrastination to upgrade to something that can handle what I push it to do) it may just be that my computer is too maxed out for a bit after one masking job.

Most problems with AI masking are caused by older, buggy graphics drivers. Try updating your graphics driver by going directly to the manufacturer's web site:

If that doesn't help, please copy/paste here the entire contents of the LR menu command Help > System Info -- that will let us see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running.
