Migrate Lightroom from Windows to MAC .

I use an external HD NTFS to copy all my pictures.

I installed new Lightroom on my new MAC.

Open Lightroom on the new MAC and can see ? on all files .

So execute the Found missing folder and open the HD but receive this error.

Any Tips ?

Best Regards

Is the catalog still on that external disk too? MacOS can read NTFS, but not write to it. Lightroom Classic needs to be able to write to its catalog.

Hi,

I tried a new way after installing the Lightroom on my new MAC. I used
the import function to copy all the 10.000 pictures from the external drive
to the
lightroom on my new Mac that worked fine 🙂

Best regards

If that works for you, then it works for you, but do remember this: reimporting images will make you lose their edits if you did not write these to XMP. And even if you did always write edits to XMP, then you will still lose History, Virtual Copies, Stacks, Collections and Smart Collections, Flags and what I forgot to mention. Your Mac can still not write to an NTFS formatted drive, so it also means you cannot add new images to this drive.

Copy the catalogue to the internal disk to be able to write to it. It should always be on an internal disk because speed and reliability.
If Mac is not able to write to your external NTFS disk you will still have a problem when Lightrrom wants to write to the .xmp files.
