Missing Color Profile (.dcp) - workflow problem?

Hi Everyone,

I do artwork photography and color is very important.  I do custom color profiles with a color card that are auto saved to LR.  Every couple of years I wipe my computer clean and reinstall a new OS.  I usually copy over some Adobe files (actions, and whatnot) to transplant into the apps when I reinstall them.  I don't really remember doing this with the color profiles but there are a bunch of them still in there.  I just found a group that have the profile missing.  I can't tweak those files and re-output because the color is off now. 

Is there a better way to do this?

I feel like there should be a way to keep this profile with the catalog that has all of the LR edits.  Or something like that.  

Am I missing something?

On the Mac, the camera profiles created by the User are stored in a folder shared with Camera Raw. The path is:

Users/user name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles (see attached screesnhot).

If you still have a copy of the original colorchecker file for the camera, then it's easy to create a new profile.

Yes I know where they live but it's gone.  Is there any way to change workflow so they live in the catalog?  That way they would never be separated

If you move to a DNG workflow, the profiles (and edits and more) get embedded into that container. 

Otherwise you'll have to find the DCP profiles from a backup and install them in the location Ian talks about.

Point to; no not any differently than what you're now doing. Backup, sure.
