Question

Moving Folders from one drive to another via Lightroom Classic CC

I am running Lightroom Classic CC on an Apple mac.  The imported files are on an external USB drive.  I want to transfer the raw files in a range of folders from the existing USB to another USB drive with additional storage space on the drive.

Could anyone tell me what I have to do to retain the connection in lightroom and what the steps are to execute my proposed action.

Thank you

Murray

All the advice you need is in this link-  https://www.lightroomqueen.com/move-photos-another-hard-drive-leaving-catalog/

For a very large number of files to move- then the 'Option One'. would be advised whereby you Copy the files with the OS then re-link them in the Lr folder panel.

'Option Two' is the most recommended method- all done within the Lr Folder panel. But there are rare and random reports of problems occurring when transferring large amounts of files.

*Note the last paragraph- Do NOT Import, or use Folder Synchronization!

    Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

'Option Two' is the most recommended method- all done within the Lr Folder panel.

Some of us would say it should be the least recommended option — in fact, it should be avoided like the plague because of problems (bugs) that cause photos to disappear.
