Moving pages in Book module

I am using LR Classic 8.3 on Win10.  I know how to move a page while in the Multi-page view as long as I am moving it to a location that is in the current 8-page view, but I am having problems moving it further up (or down) in the book to an area that is not in the current 8-page view.  When I click and hold on the yellow tab at the bottom of the page and try to move/drag the page up (or down) LR will not scroll to the upper (or lower) location that is not in the current 8-page view.  Of course, I know that this must be possible, but I cannot figure out how to do it since it is not behaving like any other program I have used.  I watched a Julieanne Kost video and also a Laura Shoe video where they show moving a page, but in both cases they moved the page within the current 8-page view so I still do not know how to move it further away in the book.  I hope someone can help.  Thank you!

Yes, after I posted I thought of that.  Tedious, but it works.  I reduced the size of the thumbnails to the smallest and that also makes it easier since it requires fewer steps.

Thank you for the suggestion to reset the preferences.  I had never heard of that so I did a search and found out how to do it:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

I reset the preferences and now it sort of scrolls when I drag.  I say sort of because it still sometimes refuses to scroll and at other times it is very finicky and takes 5 or 6 attempts to get it to scroll.  The scrolling is very slow.

Thank you!

For a start you could reduce the size of the multipage preview thumbnails- See more pages!

Then I find that when I drag highlighted pages, I need to hold the mouse button down and position the mouse cursor (point) almost exactly on the top or bottom margins of the background grey screen panel. Only then do the pages scroll.

Thank you for that suggestion.  Unfortunately it does not solve the problem  When I reduce it to the minimum I can see many more pages, but I can still not move the page to any part of the book that is not displayed. :-(

No matter how carefully I drag the page to the top margin of the background gray screen panel it does not scroll. :-(

A work-around might be to drag and drop the pages you are moving to a new 'edge' location within the visible screen, scroll the pages, then Drag&Drop the selected pages with repeated moves. Tedious I know.

You have, of course, tried resetting the Preferences?

"8-page view"- is not a default in any way. The number of pages visible in multi-page view [Ctrl+E] is changed by the Thumbnail size slider, and your screen size will determine the maximum pages you can see in the main panel (I can view 144 pages with the filmstrip hidden!)
