No import thumbnails for any connected camera under MacOS Catalina

Ever since I've updated to MacOS Catalina I don't see thumbnails in the import tool. Also some of the cameras (Sony) show as blank items on the right (no name). The import itself works though.

The cameras that I've tried are: Canon 5DM4, Sony A7M3 and IPhone X MAX

 

Anyone else experiencing similar issue? Any word from Adobe on an upcoming patches for Catalina related issues?

It does not list import problems, I'd also check https://feedback.photoshop.com

    Hi there,

     

    Sorry that you do not see the thumbnails of raw images while importing in Lightroom Classic since the update to Mac OS Catalina.

     

    We have not been reported with similar issue so let’s work to isolate what you’re seeing. 

     

    Could you please restore Lightroom Classic app preferences to default and let us know if the issue still persists? Please refer this article for step by step instructions:

    This helped to a certain degree. I've attached an image where I circled two areas. The first top one is where device name use to be and when that is selected the thumbnails are not displayed. The second area that I've circled is the name of the SD card in the camera. If I select that it shows preview thumbnails.

    Could you please copy the contents of your SD card onto your desktop and then try importing them in Lightroom? Does that work and are you able to see the thumbnails?
