Non RAW files were not converted to DNG?

Had to do a clean windows 10 install then then re-install CC and Lightroom. I now receive an message at import saying "Non RAW files were not converted to DNG". "Not all the files being imported were raw camera files. Only raw camera files were converted to DNG".

In this case the files on my card were all jpg files. I never received this message previously and wonder more about what it means and perhaps I previously (months ago) turnoff the Don't show again so it seems like something new for me.

Is there a reason why I should convert RAW to DNG at import?

    DNG is an Adobe version of RAW (in a way) it is meant to take place of various RAW formats from various camera manufacturers, and in some sense various versions of those RAW formats. They wanted a global RAW format.

    So, some people do in fact use it.

    Now at import, Copy as DNG is an option, perhaps you never clicked on that before. I see you have a fresh install of LR, so it may have defaulted to the first option (Copy as DNG) instead of Copy.

    Now, I am a militant RAW shooter, so naturally this never comes up. Just ran a test, JPEG only import, Copy as DNG, yep, get that notice.

    Yes indeed, Copy as DNG had been selected. I should have figured

    that out for myself.

    Converting to DNG is a personal choice. I suspect what happened is that you inadvertently chose the option to Copy as DNG in the import dialog rather than the simple Copy option. And that is probably why you got that message.
