Question

On a Mac, Lightroom (and Photoshop?) do not honor desktop movement

I accidentally fired up Lightroom on a desktop I reserve for various admin purposes, so I moved the app.

(Ctl-UpArrow, then grab and move the app). Unfortunately, when I type "ctl-#" (where "#" is the desktop number),

Lightroom very cleverly knows to send me back to the original desktop. Lightroom is unusable. I must shut it

down and restart. To any Adobe personnel listening: would you please fix that? Thank you.

If you have the app in full screen mode it will take its own desktop. This is not limited to Adobe apps.

Since the Keyboard shortcuts are used access "Desktops" then you can only access those named "Desktop 1" or "Desktop 2".

To access other apps using their own desktops or more than 2 desktops I recommend using the keyboard shortcut of Cmd+Tab or the keyboard shortcut of Ctrl + (Left Arrow/Right Arrow).

If you don't put the apps in full screen mode, this is not a problem and your Ctrl+1/2 will work.

You are correct. If you make it full screen, it has its own desktop. So I don't click the green "+" button. I do not like the Mac's treatment of full screen mode. Consequently, Lightroom was brought up in desktop 1, expanded to take 99% of the desktop and then stashed in desktop 2. "Ctl-2" flashed Lightroom and then instantly went to desktop 1. I could not stay in desktop 2. (Until I shut down Lightroom and brought it back up in desktop 2.)

Here is my theory: Lightroom wanted to bring up a message window. Message windows *ALWAYS* pop up in the initial desktop. That is usually not a big problem. I get flipped over to the message desktop, deal with the window and then go back. Adobe should fix that. However, if LR puts up a message window upon entry to its current window but immediately decides to kill that message window, we have a problem. I suspect that that is what was actually happening. Can't prove it 'cuz I never saw the message window. Adobe can fix this.

I seem to be unable to get consistent behavior. Switching modules seems to fairly often trigger the flip-back-to-original-desktop, but it is not 100%. So my solution is to just be certain I never move the LR (or PS) windows between desktops. Please fix.

Interesting. How are you switching Modules? I ask because the keyboard shortcut is similar. CMD+Opt+1/2/3/4etc.

While I understand the learning nature of keyboard shortcuts, and you are obviously comfortable with Ctrl+1/2 to switch Desktops how do you feel about Cmd+Tab to switch apps or Ctrl + (Arrows) to switch desktops? Seems these would alleviate the current frustration.
