Question

One minute to move between pictures in Develop

Hey folks!
Do you have any idea as to what happened to Lightroom Classic.
I used it today after a couple of months and, of course, I updated to the latest version.

As soon as I open a picture, the memory usage spikes to 10Gb and it freezes even after the simplest edit.
It can take even one minute to move between pictures while in development mode.

So far I tried to:
Update the graphic card drivers
Set the GPU usage on Lightroom settings to Auto
Cleared the cache on Lightroom

Even created a brand new catalog and uploaded like 10 pictures (RAW).

As it is right now there's no way I can use it for work. And I can confirm that this never occurred to me in the past so I would think that the latest update messed things up.

I read online and it seems I'm not the online one with this issue.

Is Adobe doing something about this?

My Lightroom Classic 13.5 is so slow now it's unusable 😞  What's going on?!

System Specs:

Threadripper Pro 3975wx
256GB RAM

Nvidia RTX A6000
C: is 1TB nvme M.2 - Windows and Software
P: is 1TB nvme M.2 - Project Files, ie Ligthroom Catalogue

V: is 1TB nvme M.2 - For media files, including RAW Photos
X: is 1TB nvme M.2 - For my Cache Files, include the Lightroom Cache

The entire Adobe Creative Cloud is hanging in tatters.  Problems with every single piece of software.  I reinstalled the OS and all the apps a short while ago, in case it was my system.  No change.  None of the Adobe Software is reliable to run a business with.

Normally I would recommend or ask that you post your own discussion, but the above discussion is not so so full of replies, the author has not replied, and I suspect your discussion might get migrated into an existing LrC slow on WIN 11 Discussion (the one I am thinking of appears to be getting nowhere)

this link comes to mind (as in not helpful, but???)

So, I will be nicer and will make a few inquiries

1. System Info (as reported in LrC)

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.

Mostly interested in these sections:

Lightroom Classic version: 13.4
License: Creative Cloud
Language setting: en
Operating system: Windows 11 - Home Premium Edition
Version: 11.0.22631

Built-in memory: 65243.7 MB
Dedicated GPU memory used by Lightroom: 3498.4MB / 8018.0MB (43%)

Standard Preview Size: 2560 pixels
Displays: 1) 2560x1440

DirectX: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (32.0.15.5599)
Init State: GPU for Export supported by default
User Preference: Auto

Library Path: W:\Active Projects\Photography\test\test-v13-3.lrcat

Installed Plugins:
1) AdobeStock
2) Any Filter
3) jf Bag-o-Goodies
4) Loupedeck2
5) SmugMug

2. A screenshot of your LrC /Preferences/Performance

3. On that P drive, with the catalog in it, how much free space in percent. Looking for at least 20% free, some say 25%

4. In LrC, in the Library Module, in the Folders panel, anything odd like a missing folder. And in ALl Photographs, any missing photos?

3. In your Windows System Settings, what Power Setting?

Judging by the reply, and the fact that noone else is having a good time, it looks like Adobe have no idea what we're all talking about.

I'm willing to help, but I'll want to be hired as a freelance Adobe QC person - It seems you need more of them.  Let me know if you're willing to hire me and I'll help solve the problem.  Meanwhile, I'm busing looking for open source replacements to the Creative Cloud.

Adobe, one of the richest companies in the world and NONE of their software works correctly, apart from Substance Painter, but there's time for that, too.
