The VRAM Idea was mine, not the techs.
Yes the WX7100 is now eight years old, but is now running as good as new, perhaps better after the revamp. There is one more thing to do to the card to extend it's life and that is to replace a single diode. And though it might be old by todays standards and isn't able to compete in terms of performance, it is still out performing many more expensive cards in that it gets the job done. To replace it with the same number of Display Ports and more memory and better performance would cost in the region of 2 to 2.5 thousand USD and right now, that is not a sum that I am willing to part with.
It's working just fine and with memory to spare. If any memory gets eaten up it is the 64GB of DDR5 memory on the main board. Why fork out that much or any cash when the card is yet capable of doing its job. It is now capable, in fact more than capable of running AI Denoise and faulters not elsewhere.
I actually don't like Nvidia and the cards you mentioned also don't have 4 display ports. It has 2 and 2 HDMI which do not meet my requirements. The RX 4060I 16GB looks a nice card though.
ACR is by Adobes own admission now reliying on the GPU more and more, rather than the CPU to run. GPU memory is better than CPU memory apparently and so ACR is now being developed to use the GPU memory and not use the CPU.
When running AI Denoise, I have confirmed this to be the case. My CPU usage when running AI Denoise is between 0-1% throughout while the GPU is 98-100%. So, mu CPU is basically taking a nap while the GPU is being hammered.
See attached screen shots. I ran the same RAW file twice to get these two screen shots, one straight after the other and the AMD WX7100 had no problems. The estimated process time was 2 minutes and both runs were completed in under a minute on each run.
