Have an edited image in Lightroom that I want to continue editing with Photoshop. Right click opens PS but the image doesn't move into PS. Instead the Photoshop window opens with my most recent images showing but no way to move the lightroom image to PS.
Windows 11, PS 24.7.0 and LR 12.5
[Merged several similar messages into this one thread in order not to have the same question (and suggestion to solve it) in several threads. Mod]
I have been reluctant to process this "fix" as I have installed, Topaz, Nik, Sky replacement images etc etc. I assume I will have to do this again after the PS LR reinstall?

Yes, you may have to reinstall some stuff (although you could probably just move the plugins out of the plugins folder and move them back in after reinstalling Photoshop), but do you want to fix this or not? If you want to fix this, then you'll have to accept that it could mean some extra work.

Hi, today when I try to send a pic from lightroom classic to photoshop for editing, the photoshop homescreen opens but the pic will not open in photoshop. I have been using this workflow for years and nefer had any issues until today. I'm using Lightroom Classic 12.5 release and Photoshop 2023 24.7.0 release, and I work on a Macbook Pro. Can anyone help me out?

I also have this problem, which looks like a repeat of an ancient problem that keeps re-occuring with updates. LrC 12.5, PS Beta 25.1 and camera raw 15.5.1.

Yes, I was having the exact same issue once i upgraded also. I couldn’t get it fixed so I eventually had to contact Adobe support through the chat. He took over my computer virtually and did some IT stuff that fixed the issue for me.

I ran into the same problem today. Sigh... I managed a bit of a workaround by opening the orginal RAW file from Photoshop, editing it in Camera RAW and Photoshop and saving the file as a unique name. I then synchronized the folder containing the edited image(s) in Lightroom. It's a bulky workaround for sure but I'm leery of reinstalling PS and LR for fear of losing personal actions, presets, AFM filters, and plugins etc. So for me, that's what I'll do until the programmers at Adobe figure out how to fix the problem and provide updates.

Suit yourself, but don't hold your breath. This problem has been around from time to time for many years, so holding your breath while waiting for a fix could be very unhealty...

I just chatted with Adobe and they suggested reinstalling. It worked for me. When you do, remove LRC first then PS but keep the preferences when asked. Then reinstall LRC before PS ( not sure it makes a difference but Adobe said to do it in that order0). At least on my first try, LRC is nominal and PS opened correctly. I also did it with PS ß but it's a bit flakier. Beta does not launch so one has to launch it first then export to it from LRC. If it doesn't work, the first time do it again. It is, after all, a beta. Good luck. There are enough people complaining so hopefully adobe is working to correct the issue permenantly!

The general experience is that you should install Photoshop first, not Lightroom. Several people confirm in this thread that it solved their problem.

All I can say is they said the opposite so I did it that way and it worked (well not as much for the beta)

Were you able to save your plugins and such in both LR and PS?

I can't say that Adobe support was wrong, but it wouldn't be the first time they give the wrong information, and as it didn't work for Photoshop beta...

Lightroom plugins remain in their place when you uninstall and reinstall the app. I do not use any Photoshop plugins, but it should simply be a matter of moving these out of the plugins folder, uninstall and reinstall, and then moving the plugins back into that folder.

From LR CC I send a photograph to "Edit in Adobe PS 2023". PS opens, but the image does not open.
Happens with any file (RAW, JPG, etc.)
Mac Os Ventura 13.5.2.
ACR 15.5
LR CC 12.5

When the 'link' between Lightroom Classic and Photoshop has issues, the first step is to try this:
Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Application to uninstall Photoshop. When asked, keep preferences! After this reinstall Photoshop again.
If this doesn't help the nest step is to reinstall both apps Lightroom and Photoshop. Please folloe the steps below:
1. Open the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Client and uninstall both Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. When asked, keep preferences!
2. Install Photoshop first and then Lightroom Classic. The right order is very important here!
If this doesn't help try the reinstallation with removing the preferences also.

Unistalling Photoshop and keeping preferences then reinstalling through the Creative Cloud app solved the problem for me. I did not have to unistall and reinstall Lightroom. I was very hesitant before uninstalling but decided the impact of having my workaround creating extra work wasn't worth waiting for Adobe to fix the issue. I wonder why Adobe doesn't address these issues before each release? Their quality and control seems to be lacking... I am so impressed with this community comraderie and resulting help to fix this problem BEFORE Adobe even let's users know there IS, in fact, a problem!

Nothing has changed. Sending raw files to Photoshop has always worked this way. You may be confused with how plugins work. They get a rendered tiff from Lightroom (because obviously they don't have something like ACR to open a raw file).

I uninstalled Photoshop, keeping my settings, then immediately reinstalled it. Works perfectly.
My issue began when I uninstalled PS Beta - it's nice that Adobe lets us play with new toys, but LR seems to have issues with two versions of PS installed.
Everything is working now.

I have the same problem, started in the last few days. Thanks to other posters in this thread for advice.

What DID fix it:
I can verify that my preferences/settings seem to be saved after reinstalling.
